I wish I could have called you when I first opened up your book. I squealed with delight as I realized what was in my hands! I went on and on to my husband about how I had FINALLY found what I was searching for. I know I am not unique in wanting the best method for teaching these skills. I also KNOW that there will be so many people just like myself that will jump with joy when they find your All About Spelling series. Hands down, your book is so beautifully put together and incredibly professional! I love the easy steps and I enjoy the helpful hints that are placed all along the way.
My best compliment goes to the method you have chosen for teaching spelling. All About Spelling incorporates so many of the important elements I was specifically looking for—visual (flashcards), auditory, hands-on (letter tiles and tokens), questions, writing exercises, a method for tracking and recognizing levels of accomplishment, and a simple step-by-step method for teaching.
To be quite honest with you, All About Spelling is EXACTLY what I was hoping to find. The only book I could find that comes even close was Writing Road to Reading, yet for me it still lacked some of the elements that you have so thoughtfully captured. The series could easily double for teaching reading as well as spelling. When I began my quest for a proper method for teaching these principles, I started searching for "methods to teach your child to read." I found that most sources I came across were incomplete. It wasn't until I felt inspired to look for "spelling methods" that I found your website and the completeness I was hoping to teach. Marie, I have to hand it to you, the book is WONDERFUL!
Please know how grateful I am for your talents in putting together these books. My three little boys (and just recently, one more on the way) will all benefit from you and the All About Spelling method. I have no hesitation to recommend your book to my family and friends. It is more than I expected to find when I pulled up your web page.
